"Crooked River Canyon At Smith Rock Park"
Smith Rock State Park in Terrabone Oregon is a rock climbers paradise. Truly a mecca for the thousands that visit during the climbing season. Not to mention a truly unique and beautiful place to visit. You are looking down at the Crooked River and some of the climbing rocks. If you look at the far left and off in the distance you can make out Black Butte, a huge black Cinder Cone and a prominent oregon resort.

I made such a rookie mistake and forgot the battery charger on our trip and just happened to run out of juice as we hit the crater rim. I was only able to snap off a couple of handheld shots before they died completely.
" Oregon's Painted Hills "
This surreal landscape is tucked away in the hills near Mitchell Oregon. The Painted Hills Unit is one of three that make up the John Day Fossil Beds Monument. The formations you see here are formed millions of years ago. the color comes from floodplain deposits made up of Shale, Siltstone, Mudstone and Laterite that produce the red color you see here.
